Origination
A project inspired by a famous person, Helen Keller, Winged is an organization that provides those with disabilities with education and space to create art, understand themselves and contribute to society with their creativity, resilience and enthusiasm for life.
We aim to provide visual art mentorship and training for those with disabilities to thrive by themselves through selling their own art works or simply pursuing their passions. Winged promotes inclusivity for all kinds of disabilities and supportiveness among its members. We equip our mentees not only with skills and knowledge to create personal art branding, but also with self-love and self-expression through the means of art.
Ideation
Before any design project, I define the key attributes of the business, with dedication and mindfulness of the business' goals, branding and aesthetics.
The five attributes that Winged hopes to represent as a brand are:
1. Heart-warming
2. Connectedness
3. Focus
4. Empowering
5. Empathy
Moodboards/Inspirations
First, I created a moodboard for the design of Winged. The main ideas I thought of while brainstorming for Winged are:
1. The lines are curvy, soft and flowing, resembling gesture drawing
2. The common theme is inspiring, unity and imaginative
3. Public figures with disabilities are the inspirations of the brand
Sketches
Initially, I wanted to name the business Alar (also means Winged). However, changing the product name to Winged simplifies the design, pronunciation, meaning, and thus close the gap between the brand and the public.
